What is Independent Living Services?

Independent Living Services are designed to help individuals learn daily living skills by using 1-on-1 coaching services that are tailored to the individual consumer’s abilities, current skills, and future goals. ILS programs provide services to adults withdevelopmental disabilities that offer functional skills training necessary to secure a self-sustaining lifestyle in the community and provide the support necessary to maintain those skills.

ILS provides up to 40 hours per month of daily living skills training and support. The purpose of ILS training focuses on an individual living the most self-managed life possible in the least restrictive environment. The number of training hours and the areas of training are determined based on an individual’s assessed need andpersonal choice. It is expected that over time, anindividual’s need for services may decrease, at which time on-going support is provided at a lesser frequency.
